Our engineers have commissioned plants in 40+ countries. These are the mistakes they see most often — and how to avoid them.
Before feeding any raw material, run all machines empty for 30 minutes. Listen for unusual sounds, check bearing temperatures, verify oil flow paths are clear. A problem caught dry is a problem solved cheaply.
Wrong motor rotation (backwards) is the most common first-startup mistake. Always check before connecting coupling — run motor solo for 3 seconds, observe fan blade direction. Reverse two phases if incorrect.
An oil press that is 2mm out of level will wear its main bearing 3× faster than a correctly levelled press. Spend the time on leveling — it pays back in years of additional service life.
A cold screw press needs 15–20 minutes of warm-up with seed before reaching working temperature (80–120°C). Don't judge oil yield in the first 10 minutes — you'll get discouraged before the press is even ready.

No. Our installation videos and documentation are designed to allow self-installation by a competent local mechanical contractor or technical team. Many of our clients in Africa and Asia self-install using our video guides and WhatsApp support. For turnkey projects (20 TPD+), on-site engineer support is available and strongly recommended for the commissioning phase.
Current installation videos are narrated in English with on-screen labels in English. Arabic subtitles are available for the screw press and refinery installation videos (most popular in Middle East/North Africa). French subtitles are being added for West Africa. Contact us if you need a translated version for your team.
Installation time depends on scale: 5–10 TPD mini mill: 3–5 days; 10–30 TPD: 7–12 days; 30–100 TPD turnkey: 15–25 days; 100+ TPD: 25–45 days. These are mechanical assembly times. Electrical connection adds 1–3 days. Commissioning and first startup adds 7–15 days. Our installation videos cover all phases.
Essential tools for oil plant installation: metric spanner set (10–50mm), socket wrench set, torque wrench (for foundation bolts), spirit level (600mm and 1200mm), plumb bob, measuring tape (10m), angle grinder, electric drill with bits, pipe wrench (for piping connections). For larger plants: chain block hoist (1–5T), pry bars. All specialized assembly tools (bearing installation tools, coupling alignment tools) are carried by the SinoOil commissioning engineer.
